44-Pound Baby Boy Placed On Diet Of Fruit, Veggies To Save Life

Hey Briana Buddies-

I hope that you had a great weekend and enjoying the beginning of Spring. I love spring because it represents new beginnings and opportunities. I am motivated during this time of year to exercise and enjoy nature. My goal is to continuously make an effort to take care of my mind body and soul. It’s so important for all of us to take care of our overall well being.

I have been keeping up with the story about eight-month-old Columbian baby, Santiago Mendoza. He’s making headlines around the globe as one of the world’s fattest babies. At 44 pounds, he is barely mobile and his doctor’s have decided to place him on a diet of fruits and veggies. His mom said that the baby was born with an “anxiety condition” and whenever he cried she fed him.

I lovingly stare at this little boy and can’t help but to be filled with sadness. He is already at risk to suffer a host of medical issues, such as diabetes, heart disease and severe joint problems.  Now I ask you, do we fault the mom who continued to feed her child and watch him become heavier in order to keep him quiet or does she receive a pass for lack of education and understanding of the importance of healthy eating and physical fitness? Obesity continues to be a topic of discussion amongst adults and especially our youth. We can not expect to lead our kids by example if we are not conduits for change.

I wish a “genie” would grant me three wishes because I don’t want kids to starve anywhere around the globe. Kids who are starving don’t even have a choice to become obese, but there are so many kids who through education are able to make good choices. The root of all information is through education. Take care of your mind, body and soul. It is all you have. Live and appreciate the value of life.

Signing off…
