A Salute to Our Military Kids…

Hey Briana Buddies-

Happy Monday! I started off my morning at the dentist’s office. There is nothing worse than experiencing a tooth ache because I revert into baby mode.

As I spent the day feeling sorry for myself and doing a little bit of whining,  I stumbled upon a beautiful story about a group of military children who are stationed in Spain with their families. The kids were at a local movie theater when they were asked to stand for the National Anthem. It’s tradition to stand for the National Anthem before a showing in the movie theater. Forty children stood (ranging from 5 to 12 years old) without being asked and sang the Anthem with their hands on their hearts.

I was quite moved by this moment because I do have a compassion for military children who are stationed across the world. These kids have to adapt to new situations and  environments sometimes at short notices. Children can be a lot more resilient than adults to change. Families in the military experience daily change and I applaud their sense of pride and patriotism displayed as youth.  They understand the daily sacrifices that are made and they know no other life than the ones they have.

Time and time again kids test our patience and resilience. I salute you military children because you are just being kids and that’s a beautiful thing.

Signing off,

Sahar
