Quvenzhane Wallis, Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz remake classic musical…Annie

This is Sahar, the creator of Briana’s Neighborhood! Welcome to the first blog posting. Today we celebrate young actress Quvenzhane Wallis (Beasts of the Southern Wild) as she stars in the 1977 musical remake, Annie. I grew up loving Annie and memorizing practically every song. Annie to so many of us represented strength, compassion, love, family and positivity. It is so exciting to see a young black girl starring in such a celebrated film with a stellar cast (Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz) to support her amazing talent as an actress.
It is good to see that in the midst of so much negativity portrayed in the movies and on television that parents can look forward to a musical starring a young black role model who continues to pursue her dreams and work hard.
From my production/film experience and working with Jamie Foxx on the film Collateral, I know that he will do great playing the role of Daddy Warbucks. I am also super proud that Will Smith and Jay Z are producing this movie!
